The holy grayl water filtration system

There are many options for filtration systems on the trail, but nothing comes close to the convenience of the GRAYL ultralight purifier bottle.

Not only is the GRAYL an excellent filter, it is also a water bottle. I loved being able to drink (chug) out of a water bottle on the trail, as opposed to having to suck water out of plastic tubing.

HOW IT WORKS...

1. Fill the bottle with any water you can find.

2. Push the filter down into the bottle for 20 seconds.

3. Enjoy filtered
worry-free water!

One of the most unique aspects of this water bottle is it’s versatility.

I constantly find myself reaching for my GRAYL bottle when I see that the tap water in our hostels looks a bit sketchy and I quite enjoy the peace of mind it brings to know that the water is safe to drink.

I find it quite reasonably priced at $59.95 and have probably saved that much money in Paris alone by not having to pay 5 euros every time I simply wanted some water.

Alternatives...

Sawyer squeeze
= This is quite a cheap option! Although the filters are known to clog quite quickly and having to suck water through a filter when you’re exhausted and just want to hydrate seems like a big drawback to me.

Gravity filtration = The benefit of gravity filtration is that it requires no effort and you can filter quite a bit of water at once. Although, the major drawback for me is that it takes far longer than the 15-20 seconds my gray bottle takes. Also, I personally don’t like to carry too much water at once anyways.
